COVID-19 Update
ROUTINE EXAMINATIONS NOW AVAILABLE
To our valued patients,
It is one month ago that Calgary Optometry Centre distributed the first COVID-19 related email. Much has changed over the last 4 weeks and we have done our best to adapt to this unprecedented pandemic. Through all of this, we have managed to keep our offices accessible to the public for urgent eye care.
As of Friday, May 1st, 2020, the Alberta Government has issued a directive allowing optometry clinics to offer routine eye examinations in addition to urgent, critical and emergency services starting on Monday, May 4th, 2020. Calgary Optometry Centre has responded to this and is expanding office hours to meet the need.
As of Tuesday, May 5th, 2020, our office hours will change as follows:
DOWNTOWN:
Monday through Friday 8:00-4:30 closed 11:30-12:30 for lunch
Saturday CLOSED
AVENIDA PLACE:
Monday through Friday 8:30-5:00 closed 12:00-1:00 for lunch
Saturday 8:00-2:00
HUNTERHORN PLAZA:
Monday through Friday 8:30-5:00 closed 12:00-1:00 for lunch
Saturday 8:00-2:00
In addition to the urgent care that we have provided over the last few weeks, Calgary Optometry Centre will schedule routine eye examinations. Please be patient as the volume of visits will be limited based on safe social distancing practices and rigorous disinfection procedures between patients.
The safety of our patients and staff is our number one concern, and we continue to take every precaution to ensure a safe environment inside our offices. Some of our safety practices will impact your visit. You have likely already experienced many of these changes with visits to other businesses and service providers.
Here is a list of updated protocols you will encounter:
- Regardless of the reason, every patient entering our offices will need to have a face mask or cover. Please plan to provide your own.
- The patient should come to the office alone unless needing assistance from a guardian or caregiver. Please no additional family members.
- For all patients with scheduled examinations or seeking other services, please call the office when you arrive, and wait in your vehicle or at the door until given permission to enter. One of our staff will open the door for you.
- Upon entering, you will be asked a series of screening questions. If you have recently travelled or are demonstrating flu-like symptoms or have been in contact with a COVID-19 positive individual, you will not be allowed access to the office.
- Upon entry to the office, each patient will immediately be asked to wash their hands or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Despite all of these extra precautions, Calgary Optometry Centre remains committed to its patients. We’re here to give you the very best eye care experience.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call. Initially, there may be a higher volume of patient inquiries by phone. We’ll get to your call as soon as we can.
We look forward to seeing all of you as soon as possible.
